There is a LOT of misinformation out there about taxes & insurance in Florida right now. Well, it isn't NEARLY as bad as the media makes it out to be (what a surprise!). There certainly are much higher rates on the coasts for both taxes & insurance (often significantly higher), but Highlands County is VERY reasonable in terms of house prices, taxes AND insurance.

Also, it ISN'T difficult to get insurance form a good, stable company whatsoever.

Taxes are about $1400-1600 per year on a $200,000 home in our area - and they should be going down with the tax relief now in the works! That really isn't bad at all for all you get in this community. (We can get current taxes on ANY home you're interested in.)
